I recently heard someone talk about how they used Claude — Anthropic’s large language model — to build a law firm financial model in Excel. Impressive. But what struck me wasn’t the law firm angle. It was the bigger picture: if AI can do that, what could it do for talent acquisition?
So I started testing it myself.
I’m not an Excel wizard. Honestly, I live in Google Sheets. And that’s the point — even without being a spreadsheet pro, I was able to ask Claude to generate models that would have taken me hours (or weeks) to build manually.
Here’s the move: instead of saying “make me a spreadsheet,” I asked Claude to first design the ideal prompt for a recruiting-focused model. Things like:
Claude wrote the prompt. Then it built the spreadsheet. The outputs were structured, logical, and instantly useful.
That’s not a gimmick. That’s value.
For years, recruiters and TA leaders have been bogged down by spreadsheets — often depending on Finance or Ops to spin up models that don’t quite match what we need. Now, with the right AI prompts, you can generate your own workforce planning tools in minutes.
This isn’t about replacing analysts. It’s about giving recruiting leaders leverage — faster insights, less manual work, and models you can actually trust in a boardroom conversation.
And if you’d rather not start from scratch? I’ve listed a starter Recruiter Capacity Planner template (built in Excel, can upload to Google Sheets) that you can grab here: aitricity.gumroad.com/l/startreccapplan. It’s a foundation you can use right away — or a jumping-off point to customize with AI.

💡 AI prompt example inspired by this story:
Prompt: “Build me a Google Sheet that models recruiter capacity: headcount targets, average time-to-fill, recruiter workload limits, and attrition scenarios. Document assumptions in a summary tab.”
Response: Kiki Beach (aitricity.ai) This is where AI creates real recruiting leverage — moving from conversation to deliverables that actually help you run the function.
